Project Summary

The project Arlanda Test Track 1 consisted of:

  • Two loops
  • One manoeuvre yard
  • One cabin

The purpose of the test track is to educate drivers about safe driving, the environmental impact of vehicles and efficient driving. The track may also be used for testing vehicle safety systems. The track was designed in consideration with existing topography, environment and historic environment. The area for the development contains:

  • A historic remain
  • One tree of ecologic value
  • Water protected area

The cabin was relocated because of the historic environment. There is now a safe distance between the track and the tree with ecologic value so it can be preserved. The surface is covered with a geo membrane and the runoff water is filtered through an oil separator before it is discharged so there is no risk of pollution from the activities on the track. The project has a 100% mass balance which has minimised the transports to and from the area. Also all the transport has been made from the north side to minimise the nuisance from the construction to the neighbouring area in the south.
