CEEQUAL projects win at ICE London Awards

London Bridge Station Redevelopment
London Station Bridge Redevelopment was among the winners at the ICE London Awards 2017

CEEQUAL projects have been recognised among the winners at this year’s ICE London Civil Engineering Awards.

The ICE London Civil Engineering Awards are the premier showcase for civil engineering excellence in the UK capital. Five out of this year’s six winning projects are using CEEQUAL or BREEAM to demonstrate and improve their sustainability outcomes.

London Bridge Station Redevelopment received the top prize as the project that most beneficially impacts Londoners. Costain received the award on behalf of Network Rail for the ongoing work to transform one of the UK’s busiest railway stations. The project is currently completing a CEEQUAL Whole Team Award, following a CEEQUAL Excellent Interim Client & Design Award in November 2012.

Bermondsey Dive-Under won the Infrastructure Award for a five-year programme of work that has modernised Victorian infrastructure and increased capacity as a vital part of the London Bridge improvements. The team of Network Rail, Ramboll, and Skanska were presented their CEEQUAL Excellent (96.6%) Whole Team Award in London last month. The score is the highest that has been achieved to date by a completed project on the Thameslink Programme.

Crossrail Liverpool Street – Tunnels and Platforms won the Innovation and Technology Award for the technological innovations that have been used on the project. An off-site prefabricated solution helped the project keep to programme and also delivered significant quality and safety benefits. The project has also trialled the use of drones, 3D printing, and augmented reality throughout design and construction. CEEQUAL is being used to monitor and improve the sustainability performance of infrastructure works across the Crossrail programme and bespoke BREEAM assessments are being completed on all underground Crossrail stations.

Two more of the winning projects are also using BREEAM: Guy’s Cancer Centre (Best Building Award) is targeting a BREEAM Healthcare Excellent and Battersea Power Station Phase II (Londonist People’s Choice Award) is using BREEAM on both the commercial and residential elements.
